..and ready for the move! Movers are coming tomorrow morning, and we’re pretty much good to go.  Spike is very organized and likes to make lists and spreadsheets whenever we have major life changes.  What would I do without him?!

Breakfast this morning was my new favorite cereal (as of yesterday)–Wegmans maple pecan crunch.  And it was every bit as good today!

Tonight for dinner we had to be somewhere at 6, so we ran over to Baja Fresh and had about 15 minutes to eat.  I’m so glad we did! I LOVED it.  I’ve never been before and had no idea that it wasn’t just another Chipotle or Qdoba.  I had really delicious blackened mahi mahi tacos.

I love fish tacos and get them a lot, and these rank pretty high–especially considering they’re “fast food.”  I brought half home because of the time constraints but will definitely enjoy the rest later this weekend.

Spike got the blackened shrimp tacos, which he also enjoyed.  He said the shrimp was perfectly cooked.

We also shared the chips that came with our meals, and tried 3 of the salsas from the bar–the spicy roja, the salsa verde, and one more mystery kind.  My favorite was the roja–very smokey with decent heat.

I brought the leftover chips home and ate a few tonight as a post-dinner snack. 🙂

Time for bed! Gotta rest up for our busy day tomorrow.

Happy Thursday! This week’s gone by so fast.  Only two more days in our apartment! Movers are coming Saturday to move the big stuff–couches, bed, etc.

Breakfast this morning was a new kind of cereal–Wegmans’ brand maple pecan crunch

Oh. My. Gosh.  So good!! It was like eating a bowl of Christmas cookies.  This may be my new favorite cereal.  And yes, I added just enough milk again this morning to wet it a little.

I saved the green banana and instead allowed it to make a guest appearance at lunchtime, along with a Luna Bar.  Lunas are my favorite of all the bars–at least of the ones I’ve tried.

This one was iced oatmeal raisin, which–like my cereal–tasted like a cookie.  Hmm…I’m off to a good start today. 😉

We’re finally out of leftovers for dinner, so we treated ourselves to Five Guys tonight!  Sometimes you just need a good burger and fries, you know?

I got a small burger (i.e. one patty–I made the mistake the first time I visited of ordering a regular one, which comes with TWO patties) with A-1 sauce, mushrooms and pickles.  I love Five Guys because you can totally customize and get whatever toppings you want on your burger.

Spike went really healthy on this one…a double with cheese and bacon. Yikes.  I did have a bite though, and it was delicious.  Seriously.

How did I not know about this place before we moved down here?  I guess they have them all over the Boston area now, but I never visited one up there.

Burger heaven! Enough said.

Good morning!  It’s a beautiful, sunny morning here in D.C. which makes everything nicer during my long commute.  I’ve been staying up way too late watching the Olympics this week, so tonight I’m vowing to be in bed early.

Breakfast this morning was another green banana, plus Wegmans’ berry granola cereal…with milk!

Yes, I had milk on my cereal this morning which is very unlike me.  Not a lot, mind you…probably only a couple tablespoons.  Just enough to soften the granola a little.  Baby steps! It works really well with the vanilla berry flavor of the cereal.

I have to add this cereal to my list of milk exceptions (including Kashi Go Lean and Grape Nuts).

Have a great day!

Another day, another snow day here in Maryland…

Breakfast was  a bowl of cheerios and a Fage 2%, which is my favorite of the Greek yogurts.  I wasn’t terribly hungry and saved the banana for later–maybe I’ll have it as a pre-workout snack this afternoon.

I’m starting to get used to this whole working-from-home thing.  It makes me think fondly about my time as a freelancer, before I went back to grad school, when I could set my own schedule.  I had all the time in the world to work out, eat right, etc.  It’s no coincidence that I was at my healthiest then.  I feel like I’ve gone back to my old (good) habits these past few days while I’ve been snowed in, and it’s going to be hard to re-adjust to sitting at a desk from 9 to 5.  To anyone out there who works a ‘normal’ 9 to 5 job–how do you fit in your healthy habits?

Lunch was a Kashi frozen entree: Mayan Harvest Bake

Yum!  I picked up a few of these at the grocery store last week, and this is the first one I’ve tried.  It has some super ingredients like kale, beans, sweet potatoes and plantains, and a sauce that’s a little smokey and spicy. I’m definitely impressed with Kashi’s entrees, and am looking forward to trying the other ones.

Off to prep for my next conference call…

Good morning! I have a snow day AGAIN today (I haven’t been in my office since Thursday), and another 10-20 inches are on the way tonight.  Crazy!  We’re heading out to the grocery store in a little bit to see what’s left–probably not much, but I’m stir crazy from not going anywhere for the past few days and need to see other humans besides Spike.

Breakfast was a mix of 2 kinds of Wegmans’ brand cereal, and cottage cheese.  Yes, I eat dry cereal.  It’s weird, but I’ve always taken my cereal dry, with very few exceptions–Grape Nuts, and Kashi Go Lean.

Fun factoid: I’m allergic to peaches, but I can eat them in pie or jelly form.  They just need to be cooked, apparently.  Every summer I am envious of people who can eat them right off the tree.  Last summer I tried one just to see if I would have the same reaction, and it wasn’t pretty.

Off to fight over bread and milk with the panicking masses at Giant! Wish me luck…

The verdict is still out on whether (weather…) we’ll be able to make it to Spike’s friend’s house for the game tonight.  We had planned on making a buffalo chicken dip, but I’ve got plans for the ingredients if we’re not able to go.

This morning I had a quick breakfast of Chobani blueberry yogurt topped with some berry granola cereal from Wegmans.

Weg’s has the best store brands–seriously, everything I’ve tried has been excellent.  Spike especially likes WPOP (often featured on our favorite show The Office!).

Love the sunlight this morning! After breakfast we went outside to survey the damage…

I’m actually resting on a good 6 more inches in this picture.  You can guess what this afternoon’s main activity is (aside from watching the Syracuse basketball game).

I also got a few things crossed off on our wedding to-do list! Namely, researching DJs, finishing our web site, and emailing all my friends for their addresses to send save-the-dates to.  Our big day (10/23) is approaching quickly!

Lunch was a turkey and cheese sandwich on a sandwich round.  The special ingredient was Stonewall Kitchen’s blue cheese herb mustard.  My future in-laws live in Maine, so every time we head up there we stop at the Stonewall store for mucho sampling.  We’re pretty shameless when it comes to free samples. 🙂

Enjoy your afternoon!

I discovered the joy that is greek yogurt fairly late in life…I actually had never tried any of the various brands before moving here to Maryland 7 months ago.  Far and away my favorite has to be Fage–especially for this particular breakfast.

I swear it’s under there! Fage Total 2% (that little bit makes a huge difference–I much prefer this to 0%), topped with banana, honey and this new cereal that I bought because Giant was out of my regular granola–Post Trailmix Crunch, with raisins and almonds.  It’s pretty good, actually.  It has a nice brown sugary, toasty flavor.

Spike loves Fage too, although he mostly uses it as a vessel to eat honey. 🙂
